Acts 11:27-30

27 Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius). 29 So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers[d] living in Judea. 30 And they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

One response to “Acts 11:27-30

  1. First, they believed the word of prophecy, which took great faith. Then, they gave to those who would be affected, which took even greater faith. They were giving away their resources, in the face of a coming famine, because they believed God would care for them. Their love for others was greater than their own self preservation. I am not there in my faith or charity. I can be generous, but I always think of myself first.
