Proverbs 12:17-22

17 Whoever speaks[b] the truth gives honest evidence,
but a false witness utters deceit.
18 There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
but those who plan peace have joy.
21 No ill befalls the righteous,
but the wicked are filled with trouble.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight.

One response to “Proverbs 12:17-22

  1. I read this passage, and the first thing that sticks out to me is the passage that describes those who delight the Lord. I want to be someone who delights the Lord, makes Him happy. I can never repay Him, but I can show Him a heart of gratitude.

The ones who delight the Lord are those who act faithfully. Acting faithfully is to consistently follow the designs and advice of the Lord. To do that, I have to know His word, His parameters, and what He expects. To know this, I have to love and study His word. Once I know what is expected, I have to faithfully and consistently act to obey Him.
