Acts 7:6-8

God spoke to him in this way: ‘For four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.’[b] Then he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him eight days after his birth. Later Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

One response to “Acts 7:6-8

  1. God placed them into slavery to punish Israel and to show His deliverance. He used Egypt to enslave them, and then punished Egypt for enslaving them.

In our minds, this seems so unfair and manipulative. But this is God’s sovereignty. He has a plan, from before time, that is to show His Son as the perfect Lamb and the Saviour of the world. We are bit pieces, tiny characters, in His plan and purpose. He is kind, He is long suffering. But above all, He is Holy and His ways are His own.
