Acts 5:17-21

17 Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the partyof the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. 20 “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”

21 At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people.

One response to “Acts 5:17-21

  1. Religious leaders whose motivation was jealousy and staying in power. Seems pretty far from the truth and their calling. This was their same response to Jesus when He threatened their well being and power.

God’s will won’t be frustrated. He was spreading His new covenant in Jerusalem and beyond and these people were His method. He let them get arrested so that He could free them and show His power over the Romans and the Jewish leaders. He did not then send them to run and hide, but to stand in the middle of the temple courts and teach the people. Showing God’s dominion, their faith, and the power of their message.
