James 5:17-20

17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

  1. The same power that was available to Elijah to control nature, and hold the rain, is available to us. I just don’t live by that type of faith. I just don’t invest that earnestly into prayer.

We go from earnest prayer, to those who have turned from truth. I don’t draw the conclusion that my logic, or pervasive arguments turn people back to truth. Truth draws people, and earnest prayer for God’s hand to move draws people. We are turning them from death. We have to care for souls and love the lost.
