James 2:23-26

23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[e] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

One response to “James 2:23-26

  1. This is so much deeper than “Abraham believed God”. He took his son, tied him up, prepared a fire, and placed him on an altar. He believed that God would provide him a lineage and a family, and he believed God would spare his son. But he put his son on the altar and raised his knife, to show that his faith was not just talk.

I can not imagine being in this position nor can I say how I would respond. But I know that my faith is weak and I need to place myself more in God’s hands by putting action to my words and showing my faith by my works.
