Proverbs 31:6-9

Let beer be for those who are perishing,
    wine for those who are in anguish!
Let them drink and forget their poverty
    and remember their misery no more.

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
    for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
    defend the rights of the poor and needy.

One response to “Proverbs 31:6-9

  1. This is written to a ruler, a person in authority with much responsibility. Their lot is not to sate themselves with alcohol and be disconnected from the world. They are to speak for the oppressed. They are to seek justice, and look out for the rights of all.

    Even when I am not a ruler, this truth applies. Serve others. Put my desires and wants behind me and look out for others.
