12 Apply your heart to instruction
    and your ears to words of knowledge.

Saying 13

13 Do not withhold discipline from a child;
    if you punish them with the rod, they will not die.
14 Punish them with the rod

One response to “Proverbs 23:9-14

  1. In saying 11, the boys are being taught not to seek wealth at the expense of principle. To make yourself wealthier, at the cost of running over the poor and the weak, puts us at odds with God and He will avenge those weak.

    We don’t just listen to wisdom, and try to change. We apply our hearts. We use our time and attention to seek truth, and to make it real and evident in our lives.
