Proverbs 16:16-20

16 How much better to get wisdom than gold,
    to get insight rather than silver!
17 The highway of the upright avoids evil;
    those who guard their ways preserve their lives.
18 Pride goes before destruction,
    a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed
    than to share plunder with the proud.
20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,[a]
    and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

One response to “Proverbs 16:16-20

  1. The wise set their paths to avoid temptation. The next verse talks about pride leading to falls and destruction. I wonder if he was trying to describe the proud who walk near temptation and think they can stay above the sin. Their pride, in their own strength, leads to their fall.

    I need to realize my own weakness and lust, and set my paths far from temptation so that I am not drug down by my weakness and my pride.
