Hebrews 9:9-10

9 This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. 10 They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

  1. Then, and now, it is not our actions that clear our conscience and square us with God. We are redeemed through the blood of Christ and we are told to be obedient in our conduct and in honoring Christ for His place as the Son of God. We are no longer protected by rituals. Our obedience, and the realization of our redemption, drives our conduct.
