2 Timothy 3:1-5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

  1. The first list seems to be an offspring of our fallen human nature. The phrase that stands out to me is: “having a form of godliness but denying its power”.

That seems to speak largely of the church today. We cling to a form of godliness and associate with religion, but we deny the true power of a life changed by conforming to Christ. I have to make sure my life doesn’t resemble a religious construct, but that people see Christ by how I live.
