2 Timothy 2:5-7

Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.

  1. An athlete must follow the rules and compete hard to receive a prize. A lazy farmer will not receive a reward of crops. So Paul is saying that as soldiers for Christ, if we do not follow His directions, and work hard in the tasks that He has appointed us to, we will have no hope of returning on our investments and being rewarded by GOd for our effort.
