Acts 23:12-15

12 The next morning some Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. 13 More than forty men were involved in this plot. 14 They went to the chief priests and the elders and said, “We have taken a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul. 15 Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him before you on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about his case. We are ready to kill him before he gets here.”

One response to “Acts 23:12-15

  1. So convinced were they that he was teaching in error, that they took an oath to not eat or drink until they had killed him. And they enlisted the leaders of the church in their conspiracy to kill him in the name of seeking truth.

And what were they so enraged over? That he was proclaiming Jesus as the Messiah. Paul was 100 % wrong, and they were deceived by Satan. Yet they were certain to the point of being willing to kill and being willing to die.

This should cause us to pause and reexamine our dogmatic positions. Are there things that we are so sure of that we could be 100% dead wrong about?
