Acts 19:23-26

23 About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way.(AI) 24 A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in a lot of business for the craftsmen there. 25 He called them together, along with the workers in related trades, and said: “You know, my friends, that we receive a good income from this business.(AJ) 26 And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus(AK) and in practically the whole province of Asia.(AL) He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all.

  1. Paul was convinced of leading people astray because his message cut into the economic results of the idol makers. His message was not evaluated, but its impact.

    I think there is a real truth there in how we look at others. We first react to their actions and their words, and we seldom take their message, or their implied message, and compare it to the Word. God’s word is the standard and the measure and we can not live in perpetual reaction to how people make us feel.
