Acts 16:23-26

23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

  1. I wonder if he was told to guard them carefully because it was known of Peter’s escape and that they were believed cut from the same cloth.

The jailor took his orders to heart and put them in the best restraints that he had. Man’s efforts are no match for God’s plans.

In order for the prisoners to be freed, they had to go through the terrifying ordeal of the earthquake that shook the foundations of the jail. It was likely that their deliverance came after they thought that they were going to die.

His deliverance sometimes comes after we work through earthquakes to get there.
