Luke 22:49-53

49 When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” 50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

51 But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.

52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”

One response to “Luke 22:49-53

  1. This account happens shortly (in the Scriptures) after He teaches them about needing swords and inventories their two weapons. Peter is quick to use the sword he carries to try to protect his Master with his ability disregarding what he has been taught about the Father’s plan. In tough times, he strikes out in his own strength and ability. I am no different.

Jesus shames the religious leaders and tells them that the night is their time of power. Signifying that they are serving the father of darkness instead of the King of Light as they claim. All this was orchestrated according to the Father’s plan to glorify the Son and to redeem man.
