Luke 22:45-48

45 When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow. 46“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”  47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

One response to “Luke 22:45-48

  1. Their sorrow was such that they were exhausted and fell asleep. I don’t ever remember this from my studies. I have always wondered how they could abandon Him at this time (Not that I would be any different) and yet in His compassion He records that it was due to their grief. Even in their failings He was kind and loving.

He knew Judas’ plan and that his betrayal would be in the form of affection. Satan in his attempts to destroy us and deceive us camouflages his efforts in various disguises and emotions. If we are not listening to the Spirit and utilizing the discernment that He gives and the truth that He reveals, we also could fall. Which is why Christ again admonishes to pray that they withstand temptation.
