Luke 10:28-30

28“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

One response to “Luke 10:28-30

  1. This man’s intention was to justify himself before men by claiming his goods deeds and using the words of Christ to validate himself.

He makes no mention of loving God and moves to the 2nd greatest commandment in a conceited belittling of the first. Who among us can claim knowledge of and mastery of loving God?

Jesus begins to teach us how to love our neighbors and He reveals to this man his own shortcomings.
