Matthew 15:15-20

15Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”

16“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17“Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’ “

One response to “Matthew 15:15-20

  1. Jesus asks if they were still so dull. He knows that we are unlearned to the things of Christ before we meet Him. After we are exposed to His truth and His teaching, He expects us to be changed and He expects us to have new thinking.

It is not the ceremonial things that make us clean or unclean before God. We can wash our hands and put on a suit and a good image and still be corrupt in our hearts. God wants us to change our thoughts and overcome our desires to be changed from the inside out.
