Chapter Blog

27Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. 28He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

  1. Two simple verses, but a great Kingdom principle. Peter was well versed in the tradition and the Law of his religion. But he was following Christ, and not religion. God showed him that this prejudice was against God’s law and plan and he stepped away from the tradition of his religion. Often, I think we cling to our traditions, rules, and religion, and try to convince ourselves that we don’t hear God’s voice.

  2. Rick I agree but I also think we sometimes cling to our traditions, rules and religion as an excuse not to do anything and continue to live the way we want to live – these men wouldnt reach out to the gentiles because of their tradition but was it more because they 1) didnt want to and 2) didnt have a heart to reach – I think about Pastor Mel – reaching the people that nobody wants! – He ignored the rules of religion and traditions and opened up his church to the stinky, the druggies, the prostitutes, the nasties – and didntthink twice –
