Acts 10:24-26

Chapter Blog

The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa went along. 24The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. 25As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. 26But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”

  1. Cornelius was proper in his gesture. He was showing his respect to the wisdom and the power that Peter represented.

Peter was even better in his response. It is not us that accomplishes anything or possesses any power or wisdom. It is God’s mercy, through us, that allows us to be part of HIs plan and light in this darkness.

  2. the greatest way to avoid pride is to remember the mercy and grace extended to us through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross – Peter saw this, knew this and walked in it – There are many times that I struggle with Pride and I crave attention/appreciation for what I am doing in the ministry – and its because I have lost focus on my purpose and what i have been extended – my purpose is to bring Glory to God not self and that grace and mercy has been extended to me, a person who truly does not deserve it.
