Acts 5:30-33

Chapter Blog

30The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. 31God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. 32We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”  33When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death.

  1. The rulers had been working hard to protect their turf and to tell the people that Jesus was an impostor. Remember that Christ spent a lot of time calling them out and rebuking them for their hypocrisy and for turning their positions into money making and power jobs.

Now these men claimed His power in what they did and accused them of killing the Son of God.

Again, they never look to the truth of what the men are saying, they only seek to protect themselves and to attack. We have to be willing to take barbs flung at us even when they sting to look for the truth in them that can correct us and reveal our errors.

  2. I read this this morning and have been thinking about it off and on –

one thing that keeps going through my head is that no matter how hard man tries to halt the plans of God, it wont happen – The rulers tried to silence Christ by crucifying him – the rulers have tried to silence the apostles by throwing them in jail, beating them and eventually all but John were martyred = yet the message of Christ continue to spread and grow –

If the message of God cannot be halted by man’s power, why is it that we allow man’s power to halt us in walking out the path has for us – if anything, the past two week blogs have really challenged me to live righteously after God and stop worrying about what man may say or do to me – God is in control, just follow the path set before me and when things get rough, its ok, just keep moving forward – dont let man’s opinion keep me from achieving all that God has for my life – and most importantly bringing glory to God!
