Mark 12:18-23

Chapter Blog

18Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 19“Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. 20Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children. 21The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third. 22In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too. 23At the resurrection[c] whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”

  1. There were many days in Jesus’ earthly life that were not recorded and many miracles not captured in the Gospels. But God made sure to document numerous times that Jesus was confronted with trick questions and traps to try to discredit His message. God was preparing us for challenges us to our faith and showing us that knowledge of God’s word was our defense and that we did not have to hide when people questioned our beliefs.

  2. Ron,

Esther is going to be in Alaska this weekend looking for houses. I am going to Washington to be with the kids. Maybe we can swing to Jax on Saturday to see my folks and to come to the party.

No problem on the graduation. I will add you to my form and hope to see you there.

  3. Reading Gill – he stated that the Sadducees were hoping to pose a question that would convince Christ to leave his belief in the resurrection and join them in their battle against the Pharasees – How many times have we tried to twist, distort or whatever our actions and ways of doing things to try and convince people that what we are doing is right, its ok – no problemo – We have to be careful that we do not distort or try to convince people that the error of our ways are the right way just because we want to continue to do what we want to do –

  4. Rick,

I most definitely will be at your graduation. Spoke with the administrative Pastor and he checked the calendar and said it would be OK. Just need to know what time and I will book a room at the holiday Inn!!!!!

I will definitely be keeping Esther in my prayers as she goes and looks for a house. I pray she wont freeze to death too – If you can make it to the pool party awesome, if not, its ok, I know you only get to come home a few times and you want to see your family.

I talked to Amy about foosball – she is going to help me so I can participate and not allow it to be a distraction. We are going to change my password and she will be the only one that has it. Therefore I can only check stuff, harass Jamieieieie and make trades with her around – I am just desiring to do less mindless stuff and more God stuff with my time – which I am realizing, I have more time on my hands than I used to think – its amazing how small changes can add lots of time to your day. Praying for ya and definitely missing ya!
