1 Thessalonians 2:9-12

2 Chronicles 8

9 Surely you remember, brothers, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed. 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

  1. Ok. This is talking about as followers of Christ and disciples, we need to have encouraging and uplifting words towards one another. Its hard to do things without support and people not telling you how well your doing something or what you need to fix in that area. I guess thats what this is talking about…

  2. look at the importance of having people in your life that will encourage, comfort and push you to live completely sold out in life. There is a reason why Jesus sent everyone out in pairs. He recognized the importance of accountability…accountability allows people to be invovled in our lives to encourage us, challenge us, correct us, work with us, guide us, etc…

I have my wife and I have Rick…these are individuals that constantly do all that I mentione above. If students in the ministry would just gain the understanding of Godly relationships and the value of accountability..it will truly change them and move them deeper in their relationship with Christ.

studying out vs 9 reminds me of a lot of bi-vocation pastors and also the workers and leaders at the church…these are individuals who work fulltime jobs and still commit to serving the Body through youth ministry, preaching the gospel, children’s ministry and such….these people work and support the ministry without any expectations of getting something in return…
