1 You know, brothers, that our visit to you was not a failure. 2 We had previously suffered and been insulted in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in spite of strong opposition. 3 For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you.
I like how in verse two Paul recognizes that it was with God’s help that he was able to share the gospel even in trials and opposition… It is so important for us to never step out of God’s provision and rely on ourselves for protection, and even ministry efforts.
I like what Sara and JD said. Without God’s help we probly couldnt get very far in life but for those of us that can see God when He helps us is something that is recognized when our relationship grows with Him. We notice the things that He does and thats what makes our relationship great with Him.
These men reveived a message from God and a purpose; to take the Gospel to the Thessalonians. Despite conflict and strong opposition, they brought the message to the city and established a church and a group of believers.
We all have a message and a kingdom of influence. We often run into opposition and things that challenge us from sharing the Word. We have to push through and obey our purpose so that we can have the success of Paul.
