Galatians 3:21-22

Exodus 19

21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. 22 But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

  1. This passage makes it clear that the Law can neither give life nor impart righteousness. The law was given to reveal sin and to reveal the need for a Savior.

REmember that this is the state that those who reject the NT (Jews) are still in. They are still under the law because the reject the new covenant and are dying to the Law that they can not keep.

  2. cant really add much to what Rick said…these 2 verse wrap up the last couple days of study…

The law was created to reveal our sin and to reveal our need for a savior—without the law we wouldnt know our state and we wouldnt know how to fix it…and its not fixed upon upholding the law but letting it speak, reveal and lead!!!!!!!

  3. I probably should have read over the verses in a whole instead of read then post because now it all came together. It makes sense that the law wouldn’t save anyone or condemn them, it’s more like a warning label or one the side-effect stickers on medicine.
