1 Timothy 5:

www.gypr.wordpress.com Proverbs 26

11 As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry. 12 Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge. 13 Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.

  1. so this is tellin what was talkin bout in the last verse…if you are a young widow yu have much more chance of getting remarried therefore not being alone anymore…..bc if you are truly goin to keep a titlle then you have to be sure that you are gonna be fithful to it….again this reminds me of christianity….you have to make sure you are goin to be strong in your faith before you make a big deal out of it lest you turn your back on your faith so that everyone can see you

  2. sometimes its hard to do what your suppose to do rather than just to go and do whatever you please. if we have a hunger for christ we should really just try to put away the ungodly things in our lives that get in the way of our relationship with christ.

  3. I think that these verses are talking about how we need to keep our eyes on christ no matter if we are label something that we arent then we need to keep our focus on the things that God has in store for us.

  4. The widows who were helped by the church came and applied to the church for help, as they had no other way to earn money, being elderly and unable to do hard labor anymore(and in these days there wasnt any other kind of labor), and having no family to help take care of them. This is why they came to the church for help. However, the younger widows were able to work to support themselves, or else to marry. Paul is saying not that there is anything wrong with second marriages, but that with idleness and nothing to do, these younger widows would be more likely to get involved in gossip and busybody nonsense. We all know stories of people on welfare who are perfectly capable of working to support themselves, but who just sit on their butts and take the government’s money. That is what Paul is talking about here. A widow who is older and who has lived a long, faithful life to her family and to her religion, will understand the importance of and be ready for a life of prayer adn dedication to the church, instead of “living her life”.

  5. gonna come at this a bit different- a lil allegory –

Think about this in a spiritual sense…your first marriage would be your relationship with Christ, than you falter from that and decided to pursue your own selfish desire (i know rick free will stuff)…the point is this…we cant do what we need to do for the church if we are not putting our first love first, getting things right with the Lord…Paul is stating for the younger widows and it can relate to us as believers, that the church should not exert energy on those that have the ability to work for themselves and be an asset to the church, not a drain…

  6. These ladies get themselves into trouble because they let other people take care of them when they are capable of producing for themselves.

This is often the case for us, in the sense that we could press in to our studies and provide “meat” for ourselves by spending time in the WOrd and asking God for understanding. Instead, we become like these young widows and we just want someone to spoonfeed truths and Bible nuggets to us.

Dont be idle and only pursue things that lead to destruction. Set your affection on things above and not things on the earth. Seek ye first the kingdom truths of God and everything else will be added to you after you achieve that.

  7. In addition to what everyone already said…This passage shows that everyday we can all be faced with several temptations. It is an important reminder to all of us to guard our lives and seek to always do what is right. It shows that living your life to honor Christ is meant to be active, not passive, we cannot just sit around, because that is when more temptations will come.
