Romans 10:12-16 Joshuah 21

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”

  1. This section is dealing with Faith. I did a lot of reading and studying from different commentaries and tomorrow we will discuss this a lil more in vs 17. But the concept I am getting the most is that through preaching, the knowledge element of faith is given through those who obey the call of God to go into all of the world and preach the gospel. Paul quotes from two different prophets in this section, Isaiah and Joel.

So let me see if I can sum this up…today is a lil more difficult for me to write for some odd reason. However, I will do my best.

Paul is stating here that everyone has the opportunity to be saved, Jew and gentile. Paul’s audience is the Jews– The gentiles didnt have the knowledge of the Messiah or the scriptures like the Jews did…So how did they come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Paul answers that question. They gain the knowledge of who Jesus Christ is through preaching and as we will study tomorrow we will see how this all works. Faith is the key to all of this—because Hebrews 11:1– ” Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The evidence is revealed through what we hear, not see and well tomorrow I will hope to try to make this a lil clearer..>But the main point I got out of this is— The message is preached by a few vs 15-16, obedience is the Key…when Christ ascended to heaven we were told to go into all of the earth preaching the gospel and making disciples.

    To be continued TOMORROW

  2. Nice work Ron. Paul is speaking of the prophets here, and how the word of the Messiah was not received.

It is ever-increasing that people are not willing to believe the Gospel, but the verse tells us how beautiful are those who take the word, not those who win ___ number of souls. Taking is about obedience, the Holy Spirit is about results.
