Romans 2:25-29

www.gypr.wordpress.com Zechariah 2

25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. 26 If those who are not circumcised keep the law’s requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised? 27 The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker. 28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

  1. The thing in these verses that stuck out to me is the part where it says, “Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.”
Im kind of having trouble with the rest of the verses but where it says that, it makes me really think, in a stand, what our praise means. Why? I dont know but it just stuck out to me. The point I am trying to make is that when we praise God when we have ungodly hearts, what does that praise mean to God? Does he accept it, or just watch it? It kind of confuses me but I think that its a question that seems unanswered for me. Sorry if this is related, but its a question.

  2. I took these verses (and please correct me if I am off base) to mean that these men may have been physically circumcised(sp) but if they were not pure in heart the physical didnt matter. Just because you show an outwardly appearance of obedience in faith….God knows your heart…and if your heart and spirit are not pure and loving for Him …even if you follow the law of the physical…it doesnt matter.

  3. Good job GrowPain.

This is very true what Paul is saying here. Being a Chrstian outwardly, but not being changed on the inside does not make you a disciple of Christ. Also, if you live the life of a disciple, but you do not outwardly walk out your faith in your testimony, no one will know that you are a believer. It takes inward committment and ourward discipline.

  4. Another great scripture to really reinforce what we have been talking about the last couple of weeks…Being a disciple of Christ has to have a combo of heart and action…you cannot lean to heavy on one side or the other..it has to be equal…
