John 15:14-17 2 Samuel 9

14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

  1. God wants us to love one another no matter what. Even though its harder in our world today, Christ still loves all those that we may not like being around, and may not enjoy talking to, but remember, they are Christ’s too. If we dont love one another, then we arent showing respect to God. God says to love one another as you love me and if we dont do so, then we are telling God that we arent really trying and that we dont want to be like him. I know that may seem a little harsh but its the truth.

  2. I think this means that the closer you get to God the better he will think of you and the more you know him

    P.S-Dont forget to fast!!!!!!!

  3. So many people think that God is far away and hard to know. The truth is that He is constantly revealing Himself to us. He calls us friends because He wants us to fully know and understand Him. A servant obeys because He has to. A friend obeys because He wants to and it is not a burden. Just as God loved us enough to reveal Himself to us and to call us friends, we should also love others.

  4. Anytime you see something repeated over and over again in the Bible…..IT’S IMPORTANT!!! We see this “love one another” thing being repeated a lot, so its obviously very important to God.
Many Christians think that God’s plan for their lives stops at salvation. “OK, I got saved, that’s all God wants from me.” But that’s not true. This passage says He called us not only to save us, but that we would go and bear good fruit. God has called each of us to live a life that will intrigue and appeal to outsiders. And once again, the first step to living that kind of life is to love each other.

  5. this verse once again shows me that God doesnt just want us to work work work for Him but He wants a real rlationship when He says you are not servants but you are friends…alot of times people think being a christia n means a list of rules that we have to folow and responsibilities that we have to fullfill bc thats what God wants but he does nt just nt us to do His will but to knw Him and talk to Him and want to do His will more than just do it like a routine like a zombie or something…

  6. W/Rick…sorry about not able to make it to the painting party—I was at the beach with my youth pastor friends playing volleyball…

Merry, I really liked the point you made between the difference between being a friend and servant…its all about the desire of doing what you are doing and the type of relationship…

A friend doesnt do something for a friend out of responsibility or burden, but because they love the one that they are serving…

Are you a friend of God–do you blog because we as leaders say to or because you love God and want to grow…Do you attend Bible study because you are forced to or do you start counting down the days till the next wednesday…Do you pray because you want something or do you talk to God carrying on a conversation because you want to know Him and you want Him to know you…

So why do you do what you do when it comes to making an impact, to being a follower of Christ??? out of service and duty or out of love and obedience…??? Check your heart…

Today I was talking with a youth pastor who I spent all day with playing volleyball and we were talking about our “JOBS” as youth pastor…I mentioned you know I dont get paid to teach and invest in the lives of students, its what I love to do…I get paid to sit in an office and do the business of the church…Whats my point…I am called to be a youth pastor but its not my job or something I have to do…but its something I love to do, something I choose to do…Hope that made sense 😀

    I say that a lot…

CUPCAKE is burnt, sore and old so he is going to bed!!

  7. I see in these verses that we are commanded to go and bear fruit for the Kingdom. THEN, THEN, we will be granted what we ask of the Father. SO often, we get the cart in front of the horse and think that we have a VISA card with no limit and that GOd is required to fill all of our orders. But Christ says here that we must ask in His name and that we are answered after we bring forth fruit.
