Tuesday. John 7:45-49

Ruth Chapter 2.

45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”

46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards declared.

47 “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.

48 “Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?

49 No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law–there is a curse on them.”

  1. the pharisees were pretty ticked when they found out that the guards had not arrested Jesus. well the guards had believed Jesus after hearing his teachings and the pharisees didn’t like that becuz they always thought they were right and if they didn’t believe in Jesus then he must not be the true messiah.

  2. Throught these first to chapters of Ruth it seems like the Pharisees and priest are kind of intimidated by Jesus and they want to continue to deny His words but it seems like they are begining to believe it is true.

  3. 46. The guards recognize the power of His teaching and say that no one else has ever taught as He does

    47. The Pharisees are convinced He is of Satan and think that He only deceives people, not delivers them.

    48. They think that they are super-knowledgeable and that no Pharisees can be deceived. What they don’t know is that the simple come to Christ and those self-absorbed in their wisdom are blinded to Hell.

  4. THe guards are wanting to believe in Jesus. They are not confined by their pride and sanctimonious attitudes as are the Pharisees. The Pharisees are angry that so many are being swayed by hearing Jesus.
HEAR Jesus speaking to you, telling you that He loves you, that you are precious, that He wants a relationship with you that is closer than family. Dont be held back by pride or by laziness or by fear of what a real relationship with Jesus will require of you.
