Monday. John 7:40-44

Ruth 1.

40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”

41 Others said, “He is the Christ.” Still others asked, “How can the Christ come from Galilee?

42 Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David’s family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”

43 Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

  1. In this passage it talks about how everyone is questioning if Jesus is “the Christ” as doubtful as people may be they never seem to question or confront Jesus with their opinion but why?

  2. why did noone lay a hand on him? did they know that it was jesus? did they BELIEVE that it was jesus? even though they didnt know for SURE it was him they STILL didnt try to seize him or lay a hand on him.

  3. the unsurety of the people showed how much they really knew about Christ. Because of what they had read in scripture.(micah5:2)they decided that Jesus couldn’t be the Messiah since he came from Bethlehem and Jesus came from Nazareth. But the same passage of the Bible they read that convinced them that Jesus wasn’t the Messiah was one of the stronget that proved he was the Messiah.

  4. everyone sees how amzing He is everyone knows that he is someone special and yet everyone still gossips and quesitons Him…why…im sure its because of scripture and how the people wouldnt accept jesus but still it amazes me that you could spend time with this man and here His wisdom and just see how He is and still doubt Him and want to hurt Him but once again God shows His awesome power and noone can touch Him because it wasnt His time and His goal wasnt complete

  5. These people know in their hearts that this man is the Christ. Yet they argue among themselves and make excuses why He is not the Messiah. The SPirit had to be witnessing to them that this was the fulfillment of prophecy, but they would not accept. Why?

    1) He revealed their sin with His teaching
    2) He was asking them to give up their lifestyles and follow HIm
    3) He was challenging their religious traditions

Look at those reasons. Do you ever fail to follow and accept Christ for any of those reasons?
