Friday. I Timothy 6:12-16

Psalm 2, Chapter Blog!

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you

14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 which God will bring about in his own time–God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

  1. This is a continuation of the previous passage, where Paul exhorts Timothy “But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.” and he goes on here to say “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…..” These are words to live our lives by. If we pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, etc, we cannot help but be in God’s will and following Him. We dont need to focus on a bunch of rules, we just need to pursue these qualities.

  2. What a charge. These verses emphasize that we have a responsibility in maintaining our walk with God. Godly characteristics are things that we are commanded to “take hold of”.
I like that Paul uses the phrase “fight the good fight”. That reminds me that living for the Lord is not always easy. Sometimes it’s an all out battle between our will and His. But we must press on.

  3. Not only are we charged to flee the lusts, we are charged to hold onto Christ and His promises until the second coming.

God also says that He possesses HIs own timing and will bring things to pass on HIs time.

  4. been in this hotel for 3 days and unable to get online cuz its HILLBILLY HADES and well im having issues tonight blogging cuz im stealin internet from the parking lot of McDonalds cuz PK needed me to take care of some church stuff and this is the only signal I had…so please forgive me for not blogging the last few days…and for those that will challenge that I was on my myspace..i was, cuz I was checking really fast those who were on their myspace and didnt blog—will post all of my blogs when i return from HillyBilly Hades…

  5. fight the good fight of faith—sure wish we had a few of those in the student ministry that were willing to fight the good fight…to prioritize and when a lead corrects them or points out failures, instead of lashing back or making excuses, accept what we are trying to do and that we are here to help.

  6. Thanks Ronnie for that last comment
I have been on myspace and not blogging, but thats because my priorites are not straight.
I am going to strive to fight the good fight and am very sorry for not blogging.

“take hold of the eternal life”
well to me this is saying to always remember what Christ promised us. That we have eternal life with Him. When times get rough we need to remember to not give in but what we are promised to.

  7. cofysquirt Says:

this says to me that are to do what youre told and what you know is right to the best of your ability…no matter if noone is behind you to say any encouraging thing or if our with a bunch of people tha wanna help you through whatever you might be dealing with…that you should alays hold your head up and fight for what you know is right and what you know is true

  8. This passage is really emphasizing the importance of pursuing righteousness by explaining what a great God we serve. To honor Him we should try our hardest to live they way he desires us to.

  9. When it said “Fight the good fight” to me i got some what of what ally got. We need to keep God in the hearts even when the times get rough and always remeber that God is right beside you no matter what happens and we should keep our chin held high and dont look back on the past and focus on the future.
