John 12:42-45

42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

44 Then Jesus cried out, “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45 When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.

  1. This verse brings to mind the thought from God that if we are ashamed to confess Christ before man, then Christ will not confess us before the Father. The significance of this is that the only way we are saved from Hell is if Jesus tells the Father that our name is in HIs book, or…confesses us to the Father. This is a mandate to live our life as a witness to Christ and to not be ashamed.

  2. This verse reminds me of all the kids we’ve had come thru COFY, who sort of get going with God, act like they have a relationship with HIm, but when it gets right down to it, most of them fall away, because they love praise (or acceptance)from men more than from God.

This speaks to me on a leader perspective—I have to be careful I dont lead for the position of gratification and acceptance than for the Lord—

Now we should understand their desire for acceptance because of the story Christ showed of the pharasee and the tax collector praying…which was loud and proud and which was humble and hearty…which was accepted and which was rejected…

Go study it…that is if anyone comes back…kind of irritating that I see we do what we need to do go on a trip and get a hold of God and then we dont do anything to keep feeding what God gave us.

Are some of them denying their belief in the Lord just because they fear him?? What is there to fear?? If he died for us, and loves us they way he does, then why have fear towards him??

Believers in those days look at Jesus and see God right through him..

Nonbelievers look at Jesus and see nothing..nothing but jelousy..

That is what I feel..sorry if its wrong!!!
