John 11:25-28
www.gypr.wordpress.com Judges Chapter 18
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 ”Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.” 28 And after she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.”

Jesus is reminding Martha that if He is our savior than even if we die we really live because we are in heaven so we never really die. This is what is called “the blessed hope”. Non-Christians often fear death because they don’t have eternal life with Christ to look forward to. When a loved one dies we grieve for our own sake because we will miss them, but we can celebrate that they are in the presence of God with no more pain or suffering…EVER!

Isn’t today the 14th?

Yes today is the 14th. In these verses Jesus is telling Martha or reminding her that her brother really did not die. In the bible Jesus uses “the blessed hope”. If Martha’s brother was actually a Christian, he would be in Heaven or still alive right now. But the non-Christians fear that they are going to die. But if they change, they won’t die. Now Christ can be celebrated without pain or suffering now… EVER! That is why Christians follow Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

There is a lot of good theology in these verses. Jesus makes an awesome promise that if someone believes in Him, even though that person may die, they will live. How is that? Well, there body may die. But bodies are only shells that our souls live in. If you believe in Jesus, though your body may die, your soul will live forever in Heaven. And even so Jesus is the resurrection. He came back from death and promised His followers the same.

the others commented what i saw at first. something else that made me think, did Jesus ever say to Martha that He is the Christ or just by getting to know Him did she know He is the Son. It would make sense that something in her yelled worship this is Him.

God taught me tonight that Martha’s answer in verse 27 is not just “yes” i believe, but that she said that she believed that HE was the Messiah. This meant that she had studied the promises of SCripture, looked for their fulfillment, and received Christ as the embodiment of those promises. We have to have an expectant heart believing the promises of God, watching for the fulfillment, and then believing and receiving the answer when it comes. Anything less is not faith.

I just want to define some words for you guys
resurrection- rising again; chiefly the revival of the dead of the human race or their return from the grave, particularly at the general judgment==By the resurrection of Christ we have assurance of the future resurrection of men 1 Peter 1
life – manner of living, conduct, deportment in regard to morals, condition, course of living, in regard to happiness and misery.
When I read this i think about baptism us going down is death, then we resurrect and then we have life—manner of living that is inline with Christ—
Hey notice Jesus asks Martha a question and the way she responded—She didnt answer saying yeah I believe I will live again—she went straight to the truth–She was like Yes, I believe you because you are the Son of God, the Christ the Messiah—She believed Him because of WHO HE IS, not because of What He Said—She believed the man not the words—A word is only as strong as the person speaking them and She believed in the person speaking the words—It didnt matter what Christ said, She was on board—makes sense…Christ could have said the grass was blue and the sky was green and she would believed Him because well He Is The Christ—makes sense..
Finally, in studying this—Martha whispered to her sister that the Master the teacher was here—why well, they were surround by Jews that wanted Christ dead and so she was being secretive to not alarm anyone of Christ being there—then I thought of this—She just made a declaration of who Christ is and now she is being hush about it—any suggestions why—Do you think it was fear of the Jews wanting to kill Christ or maybe take it on her and her family—??? Any thoughts, trying to provoke some interesting things from ya…dig a lil deeper

i also like how martha didnt just say she believed what Jesus said…because its one thing to say i belive what you are saying but to go farther and say that you belive the eprson speaking and not the words spoken is really showing your faith in that person…and as for the question cupcake gave i would say that she was afraid for Christ and for herself…becasue there was always a fear even with the disciples that they would be killed because they werent completely aware of how Gods perfect timing worked(even peter denied Christ to save his skin)so i would say she was just overall fearful

Martha’s last comment before this was that she knew that Lazarus would rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Previously, I had just thought that maybe she didnt have sufficient faith to believe that He would raise L from the dead. But maybe, she just didnt know that God would choose such a way to work. Maybe this is the first miracle in which Jesus raised someone from the dead. Judging from her reply to Jesus in this passage, she knew who He was, and her faith was strong and vital. Something to study out.

Verse 25 and 26.. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Jesus is telling Martha that whoever believes that he is the resurrection and the life, that they will live, even though he dies and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. I think that he is saying that if you believe that I am the resurrection and the life then you will live eternally.
Verse 27 and 28.. Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.” And after she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.”
Ok..so what exactually does she mean my teacher..? I mean, she knows that he is Christ, the Son of God, but what exactually does she mean by teacher..? I dont know if Martha was just agreeing with him saying that she does believe in him just to live, or if she was really agreeing with him. I know these questions are a lil stupid but they were just thoughts that popped into my head and I was just curious.
