2 John 1:12-13

12 I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete. 13 The children of your chosen sister send their greetings.
12 Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 13 The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.

when you have like a really good friend and then they move and you might write each other everyday….but then sooner or later thas gone get boring and ur gonna want more than jus a letter ur gonna wanna talk to them face to face….God doesn’t wanna jus right letters to us he wants to see us face to face he wants to walk wit us and talk to us so we should give him that……

Obviously John is writing to someone who moved away but he doesn’t want to write anymore he wants to see them in person because its like if you write a letter to someone and you tell them something funny,sad,or exciting its hard to express it on paper you know. How this applies to God is kind of what sha was talking about we can’t wait to see God. Praying to Him is like writing letters and we just don’t want to write anymore we want to see Him face to face and rejoice with Him.

John is writing this epistle to some Christians who were in another city, probably not very far from Ephesus, because it would have been hard for him to travel a far distance at his advanced age. He was hoping to make the trip to see them before much longer. He is sending greetings from nieces and nephews to someone.

Whenever you have good news about something or you just found out something really great is going to happen…what do you do? You go as quickly as possible to tell your friends. Even if they found out the same thing you did you want to be around them to talk to them about it. For example, you got a date to the Valentine’s ball….your friends could have known about it before you did…but what do you want to do…run straight to their house and start talking and making plans for the night. This is how excited we should be about Christ and the good news He has brought to us. As soon as we hear the message we should have a great desire to share it with all those around us…start making preparations and plans!!!

make our joy may be full— John realizes the power of a testimony and fellowship with Believers…When we talk to others about our faith, how we are growing, how we struggle we strengthen and find joy…
Lately Rick and myself have spent a lot more time studying the Word of God together and nothing brings more joy and excitement to share what I have studied and also to hear what He has to say…
Try it…talk to a fellow COFY member about your faith and how you are growing…have a real conversation and watch what it does to your faith and to your spirit.

This verse spoke to me because I tend to do things in a nonpersonal, technology based way sometimes. I would rather text message or email rather than have to talk to someone. But John tells us that personal contact with believers allows us “full joy”. God created relationships and He chose to physically walk and talk with Adam and Eve because He enjoyed their fellowship. We are made in HIs image and we should likewise enjoy the fellowship of believers.

well what i think about it is. writing things on paper well never feel the same as telling it to someone in person. like if i wrote “i love you” on a paper to someone i liked it will never feel or be the same as saying to that person in person “i love you”

Man i suck at this lol ill do better next time and i was thinkin at first mabe he was short on ink and paper and was being cheap cause walmart wasnt close by. but then i thought he ment all words cant be expressed on paper.

words can only do so much. you have to be there..face to face in order to feel the full effect of something. when my friend visited me from japan. i was could have never been happier even though i e-mail him about everyday. its just..different
